There’s no denying that Bollywood celebrities are the best source of inspiration for ethnic outfits, and lehengas are a clear favourite with them. From film promotions to weddings, the stars have worn this wardrobe staple everywhere—and in every iteration possible—so you’re sure to find a lehenga that is most suited to your personal style in their showcases.
Alia Bhatt and Sonam Kapoor Ahuja made a compelling case for floral lehengas. While the former attended her best friend’s sangeet ceremony in a printed floral lehenga by Anushree Reddy, featuring an unusual frilled blouse, the latter promoted The Zoya Factor (2019) in a hand-painted red floral lehenga set by Vedika M. Shilpa Shetty Kundra gave her vote to floral lehengas as well, wearing a printed lehenga by Tarun Tahiliani on the sets of Super Dancer 3 with a unique one-shoulder blouse.

Yellow lehengas were another favourite with Bollywood’s best-dressed set. While Alia Bhatt picked a lemon yellow Sabyasachi lehenga for Akash Ambani’s post-wedding celebrations in March 2019, Kiara Advani stood out in a yellow lehenga by designer duo Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla, which came embellished with crystals and sequins. We also loved Jacqueline Fernandez’s pink and yellow Anita Dongre lehenga, and Frieda Pinto’s strappy yellow number for her sister’s wedding earlier this month.
Given the number of celebrity weddings and red carpet events in 2019, there was no dearth of high-shine lehengas either. Kareena Kapoor Khan chose an ivory chikankari lehenga by Narjis for event in Melbourne, and Janhvi Kapoor debuted a traditional red and gold number by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla last month. Anushka Sharma made headlines in a multicoloured Sabyasachi number for Diwali 2019 celebrations. Meanwhile, Aditi Rao Hydari paired a gold brocade lehenga with a black silk blouse and an embroidered organza dupatta—all by Raw Mango.
